Decoupage Furniture Gallery by Tanglewood Sue
Decoupage furniture is my way of transforming “just another piece” into a one-of-a-kind work of art. Instead of a plain paint job, I layer papers, fabrics, and unexpected textures to literally dress up furniture in personality. It’s collage, but on a dresser, table, or cabinet instead of a flat canvas.
And here’s the fun part—you can use almost anything: delicate napkins, bold wallpaper, vintage newspapers, old letters, posters, fabric scraps, even full-on tapestries. Each choice gives a totally different vibe, from soft and subtle to wild and dramatic.
For me, it’s not about perfect seams or polished patterns—it’s about creating layers of story and soul. I’ll mix and match florals with abstracts, or pair vintage text with bold color, sealing it all up so it’s durable enough to actually live with.
Decoupage is accessible (anyone can do it) and endlessly creative. It’s sustainable too—breathing new life into furniture that might otherwise be tossed aside. And best of all, it’s just plain fun: arts-and-crafts for grownups, but the end result is a piece of furniture that steals the spotlight in any room.
