After Halloween, we cringed as Home Depot and all of the big box stores immediately switched to their holiday best. Don’t get me wrong. I LOVE the holidays, but it just didn’t FEEL like the most wonderful time of the year yet. Maybe, that’s because it wasn’t! So, we at Tanglewood Works decided to wait to decorate.
And wait we did. We embraced the fall aesthetic in the shop, honoring that holiday that falls between Halloween and Christmas. We kept our pumpkins and other fall foliage out, front and center. Then, about a week or so before Thanksgiving, while we were basking in our efforts to wait it out, it dawned on us… It is time to start decorating for the holidays and…
WE DON’T HAVE ANY HOLIDAY DECORATIONS!
How were we going to get the shop ready for the holidays without any decorations? How would we display our handmade holiday gift items without any spirit of the season? Holy @#&#! What have we done? And how can we fix it, FAST?!
We put our heads together, did a bit of holiday brainstorming and decided to host a TWW CRAFT NIGHT! So, one evening, around a week ago, we listened to tunes, enjoyed some beverages and nibbled on delicious baked goods from Shortcake Bakery while we made decorations for the shop.
Here we are, hard at work!
As you can see, in just one night we were able to create some beautiful new things out of old items that we had, found or borrowed! Since that night, we have gotten in so many handmade holiday gifts that your friends and family will love. We hope you’ll think of us as you do your shopping this year.
In case you missed it, here’s a video of some of the great gifts we’re carrying this year that we put out for Green Gift Friday. If you missed us on Green Gift Friday and Small Business Saturday, don’t worry! There are still plenty of days before the holidays to come check us out. Things are going fast, so we hope you will come visit us soon!
